Harpy Eagle






The largest and most powerful raptor found in the Americas, the Harpy Eagle has a body length of 35 - 41 inches, a 6 1/2 -foot wingspan, and weighs 10 - 20 pounds. The female can be as much as twice as heavy as her mate.

How beautiful is this bird? I can understand now why the Native Americans see the Eagle as a sacred bird and when the Eagle dies it's feathers become a part of many traditional ceremonies.

I am going to use the second picture as my desktop background. It replaces my beautiful hummingbird. I love the face on this bird.
